The Clothes Horse is owned by Deborah L. Yost. She purchased the store from a previous owner in October 2005.

Having spent many hours shopping at the Clothes Horse for my six children, I thought it would be fun to own the shop. One thing led to another and the fantasy of owning the store became a reality. Although I enjoyed shopping there, I had ideas that I wanted to implement that I felt would improve the experience of consigning and shopping in the store. I wanted the atmosphere to have the “neighborhood shop” feel so that customers felt at home when they shopped.

From the very first day we went from a manual to a computerized way of doing business. We can track everything from the minute it comes in to when it goes out, removing guesswork and time-consuming tasks associated with the consignment process.

We’ve added more sizes, more selection, formal wear, shoes, accessories, and more furniture. I love the consignment idea because the clothes and linens are in great shape and the cost is way below what you would spend for brand new. It also gives the lubbiesconsignors a chance to get a return on their items.

And last, but not least, I wanted to make our store the place to come for gift purchases. We now sell many brands such as Melissa & Doug, Papo, Le Toy, Alex, Castle, North American Bear, Klutz and Taggies to name a few. We’ve become THE place to go to for a gift so that trips to the mall or busy areas of town can be avoided. Buy your gift, select a gift bag with card, and you’re done! And for some of us, you haven’t even traveled out of your neighborhood!

I LOVE this store and what it has become. Judi Edenton, our manager, and the sales staff – Leslie Maguder, Sandy Shewchuck, and Carol Miller, have made it all possible. And I cannot forget our bookkeeper, Liz Phillips, and our Graphic Artist, Butch Edenton.
